“Wonderful Italian cooking”

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this slightly old-fashioned Italian restaurant with very professional, pleasant waiters. Beautiful food - it was our first evening in the States and one of the best meals we had in three weeks!

  Most  people don't think of "Italian cooking" and "healthy" in the same sentence. However, just as we convinced you that Italian restaurants can have a fine and varied wine list; or a great entertainment line-up along with fabulous food and great service; we are now taking the extra step in our food preparation.

As you know, we've filled our bread baskets with whole wheat and grains for years now.  Whole wheat and Gluten free pastas, free range chicken, side dishes of Quinoa or Faro or Kale; leaner meats and plenty of fresh, delicious fish selections. All combined in a style which enhances the flavors of our dishes and yet have the nutritional value many seek in their culinary presentations.

We're all watching what we eat these days. It's important to do so. We will keep moving with this trend and will offer locally grown organic produce, legumes, beans, leafy greens whenever and wherever possible. Of course, prepared in the manner which you have become accustomed...Casa Dante style! Hope you see the change and like the idea! But if you still want that Veal ala Dante you've been craving...it will always be here. Buon Appetito!

Want a throw back restaurant taking you back to the 1920's well you found it. Yes right here in Jersey City. Food that is nothing short of spectacular, great wine list, characters everywhere you look around the restaurant. Great meeting place when you are not in a hurry and want to escape the snobs. Let the waiter walk you through their specialties and pick, don't use the menu, talk and ask. They can make any Italian dish.
A must go for those brave enough to venture back in time..

As a New Yorker I have often heard of Casa Dante in Jersey City as being one of the top "Old Fashioned" Italian restaurants in the east. My family and I ate at Casa Dante yesterday and everything was close to perfect. The setting is like a goodfellas set with ornate trappings and banqets. The tuxedo'd staff is professional and attentive and seems to be long term. The food is traditional and delicious. New twists on old standards that we Italian Americans have grown used to. I had a Scungilli Fra Diavolo which melted in my mouth. My wife and sister had eggplant and a terrific trippa dish (not on the menu but they made it for us). My entree, Rigatoni in a sausage sauce with ricotta featured sausage meatballs which you must try.Even the cheesecake was old fashioned ricotta cheesecake. The wine list is extensive(and expensive) and Casa Dante has entertainment on many nights. Valet parking is a plus in this busy area of Jersey City."
