Don't forget about 1/2 price wine Mondays. With the exception of Monday, February 13th, I am running this through February. Take advantage of our Award Winning Wine list items. We will be here for this years Superbowl on February 5th. I am offering 1/2 price drinks to "bar only" attendes during gametime. So if you want to sit and have a meal and a few beers ( or stronger ) and watch your team win...come on in.

Healthier Recipes

Pasta with Cauliflower


I love Cauliflower. As a side dish, in a salad or in pasta as in this recipe. Casa Dante has a few recipes that inlcude this wonderful vegetable but it needs to "catch on". I hope this recipe can help make it more popular. Enjoy!

1 lb spaghetti
1 large head cauliflower
6 anchovies
1 medium onion
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/2 cup Pecorino Romano cheese
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil





Boil pasta in salted water according to directions.
Rough chop and steam cauliflower (or boil) till tender. Set aside.
Add 1 tablespoon oil to a small frying pan and toast breadcrumbs, careful not to burn them. Set aside.

In a large frying pan sauté anchovies in olive oil til the begin to desolve.
Add onions and cook on medium heat till golden.
Add steamed cauliflower and mix well.
Drain pasta, reserving 1 cup water and toss into cauliflower mix.
Add 1/2 cup of water to pasta, toss and split between 6 plates.
Top each bowl with toasted breadcrumbs, parsley and freshly ground pepper.
Serve and enjoy.

So What the Heck is a Foodie?

A short explanation

Foodie is an informal term for a particular class of aficionado of food and drink. The word was coined in 1981 by Paul Levy and Ann Barr, who used it in the title of their 1984 book The Official Foodie Handbook.

Although the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably, foodies differ from gourmets in that gourmets are epicures of refined taste who may or may not be professionals in the food industry, whereas foodies are amateurs who simply love food for consumption, study, preparation, and news. Gourmets simply want to eat the best food, whereas foodies want to learn everything about food, both the best and the ordinary, and about the science, industry, and personalities surrounding food. For this reason, foodies are sometimes viewed as obsessively interested in all things culinary. There is also a general feeling in the culinary industry that the term gourmet is outdated.
