My Two Cents
Turnpike Blues
The
EZ Pass I've been carrying in my car for more than ten year's has, sadly,
dulled my sense of how the increase in tolls has affected our wallets and
businesses. As most of you know, many of our customers are from outside the
Jersey City area. Those friends who lived locally for many years and bought the
suburban home still come to enjoy a good meal at Casa Dante. What I didn't
calculate, because of that mind numbing tag on my car, was how the tolls have
increased over the last two or three years. A typical two way trip into and out
of Jersey City might add an extra eight to ten dollars to a meal. Significant!
Sure
we've seen a drop off of customers from far-away places in New Jersey.
Attributing most of this loss to the current recession has been the overriding
reason. But the cost of just getting here cuts into our business, as well as
other concerns in Jersey City. This has become a main determinant whether
someone dines at their favorite restaurant or just a conveniently located one!
It's a sad statement for us and for our economy. Had I been paying cash all
this time rather than blowing through with that tag on my windshield I would
have had a better feel for our customers plight. In this vein, see discount
listed below as I try to ameliorate this terrible situation.

events, parties, holidays and the like. But our "friend" page is
reserved for my own messages to you...usually involves food.....my friends love
these...some of you who have moved to far away places ( Florida, North
Carolina, California etc ) really seem to appreciate them.
